Review: AISLACIÓN / LOBEZNATOR - Metanoia

AISLACIÓN / LOBEZNATOR - Metanoia (Split CD)
Both band from Mexico. “Metanoia” is truly a nice and pleasant split release, meeting up two bands with different genres. The CD released in December 2020 under Jacs Prods. AISLACIÓN is a project started in the early 2016 by two ex-members from a band called A Naked Soul which was active in the years of 1993 to 1997. Their musicstyle can be described as Doom Rock; integrating the elements of Doom Metal, Death Metal, Heavy Metal and Stoner Rock. Aislación sounds tight and remarkable with 5 tracks; Love & Fear, The Thunder, High Chambers, Hombre De La Aurora, and Yesod (instrumental). LOBEZNATOR with 3 tracks; Initiation, Sulphur Blooded, and Egolistical Doctrine / Outro sounds really merciless. Formed in 2017, they are musically hateful and blasphemous Black Metal with fast and sharp riffs. Lobeznator is extremely aggressive and insane! All in all, this Split CD not only offers varieties, but also great quality in music and sound production. Check it out, immediately! (Email jacsprods@gmail.com for further information)

Review: FACED - II Coming

FACED - II Coming (CD 2020)
Here comes the second album from New York-based Thrashers, FACED. “II Coming” offers 10 songs, more than half an hour of full throttle and pure madness, heavy, hard-hitting and loud! To get out of the typical Thrash Metal, Faced sometimes experimented with riffs and sound, sometimes infused with hardcore grooviness and ballad elements. I really love the whole album, which is impressively fresh, solid, energetic, wise in songwritings and music arrangements. Brilliant!

Review: EXECUTIVE DISORDER - Social Insecurity

EXECUTIVE DISORDER - Social Insecurity (CD 2020)
New York’s Executive Disorder strikes again with their third full-length released in early October 2020 and fuck, this is Thrash Metal Punks at its best. Crossing over the rebellion of Hardcore Punk and Thrash Metal aggression is always something delicious vibes to my ears. “Social Insecurity” contains 8 tracks; full of blistering riffs, hellcrushing speed, heavily intense and destructive! There is nothing you need to question. This is a good music and very interesting. Absolutely, a decent crossover/thrashpunk album!

Review: KASCK - Deal With The Devil

KASCK - Deal With The Devil (Single 2020)
Goddamn, this is so fuckin’ EXCELLENT heavy-thrash music! The single Deal With The Devil is the title track from KASCK’s debut EP “Deal With The Devil” scheduled to be release in early 2021. Imposingly, the band delivers heavy and chugging riffs, justified blend of melodic and aggressive elements, in-your-face guitar solos, astonishing sound quality and yet, powerful shrieking vocals. I’ve heard about Amorphia before, now Kasck, and I know that there are definitely a lot of great and potential Thrash Metal bands rising in India. It is undeniable that Deal With The Devil is a good sign for their upcoming EP, a release that everyone must look forward to. Thrash or be thrashed!!!

Review: HEARTED - Mind The Pathetics

HEARTED - Mind The Pathetics (Single 2020)
Hardcore forces from Semarang, Indonesia – HEARTED just released brand new single, “Mind The Pathetics” through all digital music platforms (iTunes, Deezer, Spotify, Bandcamp, etc). As per said, this is their latest work since mini-album “Unity” released in 2018. The group now consists of Afrizal Kurniawan (vocal), Denis Prayoga (bass), Tifan Alfian (drums), Dian Eka (guitar) and Dandi Yunanto (guitar). The 2:26 minutes single-track is truthfully heavy, dark, punching and full of anger. The riffs and beats are solid and menacing, meanwhile the vocal fucks everything loud. Mind The Pathetics is an alert to the full-length album they will be releasing in early 2021. Wait for it!

Review: URKU LLANTHU - Urku Llanthu

URKU LLANTHU - Urku Llanthu (CD 2020)
One word to describe the entire album – MAJESTIC! The man behind it, Pablo Mesías a.k.a Atuk Urku Llanthu incorporates synth / keyboards / piano, acoustic guitars, ancient folklore and nature’s element to create melancholic and atmospheric ambient music, sometimes it sounds depressive, dark, bleak and sometimes creepy and horrifying. The nuances vary on each song and all 8 tracks included in this full-length are very good in terms of ideas, creativities and musical compositions. This is the debut self-titled CD of Ecuadorian URKU LLANTHU, released by Takiri Producciones Independiente. If your ears and mind are tired after listening to so much heavy / brutal / extreme music, “Urku Llanthu” is absolutely an amazing album that can give you relaxation, calmness and tranquility. Explore and taste it!

Interview: METASTASIS (Canada)

Old-school, raw, basement goregrind from Toronto, Ontario - Canada with a pro-environmentalist theme! METASTASIS was formed around 2012 and released its debut Demo Tape that year. Split Tape with Take That Vile Fiend / Organs Tortured and also Split Tape with Oniku are among the latest releases. We have contacted Evan E. for a conversation. – Interviewed by Atandistorted, 20 December 2020

Hello Metastasis! Please introduce your band; history, lineup, etc?
Hello, thanks for the interview. Metastasis started in 2012 as a one-man recording project of mine. But in 2019, I assembled a live lineup and we started playing gigs. The live lineup includes Leezus (G.O.D., Avon Dealer, ex-F.A.T.O.) on Vocals, Dave R. (ex-Shitfit, Stockfeeder) on Guitar and me (Evan E.) on Drums.

What is the meaning of ‘Metastasis’ and how do you relate the band name to your music and lyrics?
Metastasis obviously a typical kinda goregrind name - seems like every band is named after a pathological term that ends in ‘sis’ nowadays. In a technical sense, Metastasis refers to when cancer spreads from one area to other parts of the body. Initially, the concept of the band was about illness, pathology and death as a result of pollution and enviromental destruction. But there are no lyrics so I don’t really convey this in any way other than song titles or images. Nowadays lyrics or images are just weird or disturbing subject matter, not even specifically gore related anymore.

Please elaborate further about your music style and sound? What are among your biggest influences?
Style and sound is just old-school goregrind. Lots of influence from crust/d-beat, straight forward grindcore and maybe some minor death metal or ‘war metal’ influence too. Biggest influences were and still are LDOH, Regurgitate, Dead Infection, Autophagia, Dysmenorrheic Hemorrhage, Squash Bowels, Purulent Spermcanal, Pulmonary Fibrosis, Ulcerrhoea, etc.

What are the topics and messages written in your lyrics?
Again, there are no lyrics. But the original concept of the project was about illness, pathology and death as a result of pollution and enviromental destruction. Nowadays lyrics or images are just weird or disturbing subject matter, not even specifically gore related anymore.

Please list and explain more about some of the most essential releases from Metastasis so far?
I’m not sure which releases could be considered ‘essential’, maybe this is up to the listener to decide. But my favorite ones are the 2012 Demo, “Putrefied Humanity” Tape and many of the splits - like with Parazitozis, Vomitoma, Oniku and Take That Vile Fiend/Organs Tortured.

How do you see the band progressed both music and sound from a release to another release?
I’m not sure. The direction of the music is still more or less the same as when I started in 2012. Each release just sounds a little different depending on what I was listening to then or other factors.

Is Metastasis a studio-band or do you also play live?
Primarily a studio project, again, live shows only began in 2019 and there were only 2 gigs we played so far.

What is your next release and future plan?
Next release will be a 3-way split tape with Cystgurgle (Thailand) and Endotoxemia (Russia). There are other ideas and tentative plans/releases but this is the only concrete upcoming title I’ll mention.

Report a little bit about the extreme/underground music scene surrounding your area?
The grindcore scene here in Toronto (Canada) is very small but has improved a lot in the last years. We have some talented goregrind bands/projects like G.O.D., Avon Dealer, Acid Shower, Toxocariasis, Stockfeeder, etc. We also have a small amount of other good bands playing more traditional grindcore, crust/d-beat, black metal/death metal, etc.

Thanks. Final words?
Thanks for the interview. I’m moving slowly with Metastasis these days but if anyone reading this likes black metal, I’m working on a one-man black metal project that will have a demo out soon. This project has some mix of epic/atmospheric, folk and also punk sounds similar to Finnish, French and German BM scenes. And NO racist or nationalist shit - only themes of depression, spirituality/nature, strife, death, etc.
