Review: ABDI - Demo I: Meneroka Samsara

ABDI - Demo I: Meneroka Samsara (2020)
A relatively new name in the scene, Malaysia’s one-man-band Abdi shocked the local underground through its own brand of Black Metal. It sounds inimitable and idiosyncratic eventhough you can simply consider it as primitively raw and orthodox Black Metal. “Demo  I: Meneroka Samsara” was released in November 2020. The main part of this demo is ‘Trilogi Samsara’, featuring three songs. Meneroka Samsara and Nafs are antagonistic tracks; sharp & fast guitar riffs and chaotic drums. Di Segitiga Derita is quite mid-tempo; dismal and depressive nuances. The demo also contains an intro - 13 Malam that emphasizes acoustic passages, as well as an outro - 13 Tengkujuh that tends to dark ambient. As a additional bonus at the end, Di Segitiga Derita is re-included in instrumental format, without vocals. Let me conclude this first demo of Abdi; it is 13:25 minutes of vulgar, maleficent, narcissistic and savagery! Rejoice…
