Review: PATHOGEN - Ravages Of The Tyrant

PATHOGEN - Ravages Of The Tyrant (EP 2020)

PATHOGEN from San Pablo City, Philippines is a band that need no any introduction. It is a gigantic name, a veteran in the extreme music scene in the country which also known as Perla del Mar de Oriente (The Pearl of the Orient Sea). With 5 full-length albums under their belt and lots of demos and splits, Pathogen continues their prowess in 2020 through a 5-song EP titled “Ravages Of The Tyrant”. The band never fails to provide the best, quality works for their listeners and fans. Pathogen is obviously for you, classic Death Metal enthusiasts. The music in this “Ravages Of The Tyrant” is unrelenting evil, morbid and utterly devastating! This band is not the type that focuses on speed elements or blastbeats alone. In fact they are not the ones playing the technical style if that is what you are thinking. Pathogen are heavily prone to straight forward death-thrashing aggression, chaotic at times, enriched and diversified with lots of mid-paced and atmospheric doom-laden riffs. The guitar solos are inhuman and those guttural growls are deeply obscure! The EP was released on cassettes by their countrymate, Davao Hellbangers Productions and another version under Tanatofobia Productions (Ecuador/Colombia) which interestingly include an extra track, a coversong originally performed by Filipino punk legend Dead Ends. Check out this killer stuff, it is masterpiece by all means!
