Review: SYKELIG ENGLEN - This Hollow Land

SYKELIG ENGLEN - This Hollow Land (EP 2019)
The brand new EP from Sykelig Englen entitled “This Hollow Land” with a theme of dark folklore and history in Norfolk. 3 brand new tracks of melancholic, dissonant and barbaric Black Metal with an additional bonus demo song, previously unreleased. I in fact did not intend to rewrite what was noted in the bandcamp of AHPN Records. I am just stunned by the statement where it really explains clearly the music of Sykelig Englen in this EP. Nattskog himself is a multi-talented musician with other bands and projects such as Garden Of Eyes, Hexivoid, Ritual Flail, Blasphemous Degradation, Arboretum, Åpenbaring… to name a few, and he managed to play and diverge each music genres very well. Talking about “This Hollow Land”, the entire EP is a perfect blend of heavy aggressions, gloomy atmospheres and depresiveness. Fine intermingle of emotions and expressions; anger, hatred, desolation and misery. Everything sounds equal and balanced, and staying true to the essence of Black Metal. I would like to conclude this as a monumental release, definitely.
